When I was living in Spain, people from all over the world asked me about my home country:

‘What’s up with coffee shops?’ ‘What’s up with the Red Light District?’

I liked answering these questions.

When I came back to Amsterdam in 2010, I started What’s up with Amsterdam. Goal was to answer all of those burning questions the world seems to have about this tiny country with its friendly but also rather peculiar people.

Your tourist guide in Amsterdam

Since long I have worked as a tourist guide in Amsterdam.  I will be happy to show you around! Find more information about guided tours in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam is a popular tourist destination

Since 2010 Amsterdam has become one of the world’s favorite tourist destination. The growth of tourism has put a strain on the city, especially the historical center. But the ‘red light district‘, the 9 Streets,  the Jordaan quarter and the Canal ring are not just tourist attractions.

On this blog I try to steer visitors towards other areas in Amsterdam like De Pijp, NDSM, Westergasfabriek .

For expats and locals

What’s up with Amsterdam is not just helpful for tourists, but also for people who fall in love with this city and try to make a more permanent move here.
